Bo Selection has been making the masks from Bo Selecta for over 7 years now, Bo Selection is proud of it's reputation for these masks, and we have sold more of these masks than everyone else put together. Please remember, Bo Selection is not a fancy dress shop, we do not sell superman, Spiderman or wonder woman, We just specialise in the masks from Bo Selecta.

How We Got Into Making These Masks How we started making the masks was a little bit of a mystery (even to us). We were always interested in making masks and had a fair amount of experience having worked on special fx before for certain TV programs. So one day around 7-8 years ago we decided we would like to investigate how easy it would be to replicate the masks from Bo Selecta. Well we underestimated that challenge, it was hard.

The Early Days It all started very very easily, the Craig David mask used to be a certain fancy dress character and we could import that character's face mask and a few quick alterations such as cutting the top of the head off, drawing on a beard and sewing the back up and we had a pretty decent replica. In all we could have one done from start to finish in less than 30 minutes.

A Big Change Those easy days didn't last though, in 2004 as that character became less popular the factory that made these masks was moved to China and the masks were at first so poorly made that we sent 90% back, then they stopped making that character altogether. So unfortunately this easy way of producing the masks was long gone.

Time To Choose So we had only two options, stop making the masks altogether or make them ourselves in our own studio. We chose to continue selling the masks and started to source the information and skills to make them ourselves. The first thing to acknowledge is that we didn't have the skills to sculpt a raw copy of the Craig David mask. Luckily we managed to track down one of the guys who made the masks for spitting image, this person was out of this world in copying by freehand the mould we needed.

The Next Step After we got the mould from him, it was now just a case of perfecting our technique in replicating the masks. It took us around 3-4 months of continuously correcting ourselves and throwing away masks that were still better than others were selling on eBay. That was 6 years ago, 6 years of perfecting the masks and making them the best. Have a look at our pictures and hopefully you will agree.

So How Good Are The Masks So how good are the masks? Well good enough to have appeared on TV, It's hard for us to say who we have supplied masks for without bragging or name dropping and that doesn't seem right as they never gave us permission to do so at the time. But we are sure you will have seen them on TV.
